With smartphones fast evolving to keep up with ever rising standards, manufacturers are set to raise the bar even higher this year, with more innovative designs and new capabilities. That said, the following are some of the most highly anticipated phones announced to be released in 2015:
The Sony Xperia Z4
The Z3 is still a new release, but Sony is already preparing to launch the Z4. Rumour has it that the new phone will feature minor cosmetic changes, have front facing speakers, a front 20.7-megapixels front camera and probably Quad HD resolution for crisp graphics. The Z4 is also bound to be powered by a Snapdragon 805 processor as Sony has always produced pretty powerful handsets.
The HTC One M9 Hima
Last year’s HTC One M8 was a significant improvement over the HTC One M7 and this year, the HTC One M9 is expected to shake the market. Codenamed Hima, you can expect the company to stick to its premium metallic features and dual BoomSound speakers, which feature built-in amps to optimise both bass and volume. Apparently, the HTC One M8 will also have 3 gigs of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset for snappier speeds. Various sources also seem to indicate that it will have almost similar aesthetics as the M8, with silver, grey, and gold colour options.
The Samsung Galaxy S6
It has been recently implied that Samsung did not meet the expected sales numbers with the SGS5 and a revision is destined to be embodied in the S6. Rumours and expectations point to a 5.2 inch display, with the resolution being ratcheted up to 2560 x 1440 pixels. A fingerprint scanner, heart-rate sensor, and at least a 16MP camera are likely inclusions.
LG G4
The LG G3 was a highly impressive phone though some areas such as its battery life could have used some improvements. That said, the Z4 is expected to feature much needed upgrades, with rumours suggesting it will run on an Android Lollipop platform, which was released in late 2014 and powered by a second generation Qualcomm Snapdragon. The most likely chip is the 64-bit 810 in the LG G Flex 2, though the company has also announced its own processor dubbed Nuclun, which is also bound to power the G4. Its capabilities include LTE-A Cat 6 networking, which allows for 4G speeds of up to 300mbps. Although LG has refrained from giving it a waterproof design, it could feature the smallest bezel yet on any of its production phones if its latest prototype devices are anything to go by.
Asus ZenFone 2
Asus wasted no time unveiling a phone this year, and launched The Asus ZenFone 2 at the CES 2015. The smartphone features an Intel Atom Z3580 processor paired with 4GB of RAM, which should make it a very powerful handset with awesome multitasking capabilities. It comes with 5.5 inch display boasting 1920 x 1080 resolution, and a 13MP camera. The company also stated that it provides unmatched low light performance. Its stunning exterior is the result of a combination of Zen design elements, offering unique, elegant detailing.
